Home Learning (again!)

Good morning! What a strange week it has been so far! We have been very grateful for your patience and understanding while we have been setting up a home learning timetable and online lessons for the children.

Children will be expected to attend 3 Google Meet sessions per day, which will provide some input and explanation for maths, English and reading. Children should use the link on the Year 5 Live Lessons classroom. If children have not yet joined this classroom, the code to join is on the letter in their home learning pack. There will be just over 40 children on each Google Meet, so children must remember to mute their microphone unless they are asked to speak. Please ensure children join the meet promptly! The times of each Google Meet are on the timetable.

Hopefully, children have received their pack and found the weekly timetable to base home learning around. We will publish blogs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to keep you updated about specific assignments that will be set over the next couple of days. All assignments will be posted in your child’s usual classroom under the relevant topic section.

Tasks for Wednesday 6th:

Maths – Area of compound shapes
Literacy – Create a dictionary of unfamiliar vocabulary from Beowulf
Reading – Asking questions to improve understanding
Topic – Life cycles and classification (science)

Tasks for Thursday 7th:

Maths – Area of irregular shapes
Literacy – Features of a letter
Reading – Making predictions
Topic – Who were the Anglo-Saxons? (history)

If you have any questions about any of the work that has been assigned, please do not hesitate to get in touch. If your child’s usual class teacher is in school with key worker children, they may not be able to get back to you immediately.

Enjoy your first day of home learning!

Is there a 9am meeting this morning? Have we got the incorrect code?
