This Week in Year 5

Friday 14th July | Comments are off for this post

This week has been jam packed with events – with sports day on Wednesday and a transition afternoon on Thursday where the children got to meet their new teachers. Both classes seemed to really enjoy both events and are really making the most of their last few weeks in year 5.

In amongst all of that, the children have still been hard at work. In maths, we have been wrapping up our work on estimating measurements and have been looking at solving some tricky word problems in anticipation of our final assessments.

In literacy we are building up to writing our final extended write of the year. Both classes will be finishing up our literacy lessons with one final story and have been doing lots of work around film clips in preparation. This week, the children have been exploring descriptions of settings and characters and have produced some fantastic pieces of writing.

In topic, we have been creating some models to show how rivers and waterfalls are formed. the children are all working really hard and although they are still only in the beginning stages, I am certain that they will be fantastic by the end.
