This week in Year 5
Friday 23rd June |
This week in year 5 we have been quite busy, but everyone is still working really hard.
In Literacy, we have been learning about Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and trying to untangle the rather complicated plot. We have found that the following video has been a fun and interesting way of remembering what happens.
We have also been creating freeze frames and story boards to help memorise the various events of the play. The children are currently working on their own scripts (more will be revealed next week).
In maths, we have been learning about area and perimeter. We have explored how to work out the area and perimeter of a variety of shapes, starting out with simple squares and rectangles before moving on to compound and irregular shapes. The children have all done really well, even though some found it difficult at first.
This week we also held our ‘S Factor’ auditions. All of our scientists were fantastic and Miss Bradley and I were very impressed with the creativity and knowledge that they all showed. Next week, our two chosen finalists will be performing their experiments again for the rest of the school.
