Community of Writers session 1

Friday 26th February | 10 comments

This morning we had our first session with the creative writing students from Leeds Beckett University. The children immersed themselves into the world of the rainforest considering what it would be like to be inside the forest.

The children identified what they knew and wanted to find out. Then moved on to some descriptive writing based on what they could see, hear, touch, smell and taste. This included a mixture of literal and figurative language.

The final task of the morning was to apply these ideas into a descriptive paragraph. Application of skills is really important as it gets the children into good habits.
